PayPal & Kiva: Celebrating Ten Years of Making a Difference
Kiva is an international nonprofit organization that has helped to pioneer the microlending movement. Since Kiva’s founding in 2005, more than 2 million borrowers across 82 countries have received more than $920 million in loans through the Kiva platform. In increments of as little as $25, these loans have been funded by more than 1.5 million people around the globe.

PayPal powers all of the microlending activity on Kiva’s platform – we ensure that 100% of every dollar lent goes to fund loans to entrepreneurs who don’t have access to traditional financing. For the past ten years, we’ve had a strong partner in Kiva. Their founders share our vision of reimagining financial access around the world and powering the potential and dreams of individuals, families, businesses and communities.

Celebrating 10 years of impact with 10 days of lending
Please join us as we celebrate a decade of helping people through Kiva. We’ve collaborated with them to launch a 10 day lending initiative where you can make a loan between now and October 10th. The first 10,000 people to make a Kiva microloan to an entrepreneur or student will receive a $25 Kiva credit from us to make another Kiva loan and magnify their impact.*

Canadians lending through Kiva
Canadians have enabled over $65 million to borrowers through Kiva. In the last five years, 73.4% of the loans were supported by Canadian women and 26.6% of the loans were supported by Canadian males. The top five regions Canadians chose to support through Kiva were Africa, Asia, South America, Central America and the Middle East. The top categories of loans were disbursed to agriculture, food, retail and services.

By joining the community of Kiva lenders, we can collectively create a world of change.

We hope you’ll join us in this effort.
