Support Charities Leading COVID-19 Relief Efforts
Helping our communities is the need of the hour. Front-line medical responders in high-risk and quarantined areas need supplies to continue to provide support as the crisis unfolds. Food banks and local food drives that are helping the most vulnerable of us Canadians are facing an increased demand for their services but are suffering from a shortage of donations and volunteers. Now more than ever, they need our support to continue offering the services Canadians rely on to feel safe and healthy.

If you are looking for ways to support COVID-19 relief efforts, we at PayPal, have launched a fundraising campaign – together with PayPal Giving Fund – to support organizations that have specific COVID-19 fundraisers. We have featured The Canadian Red Cross Society, Kids Help Phone, Daily Bread Food Bank, Second Harvest and David McAntony Gibson Foundation and will be adding more in the next few weeks.  These featured charities have mobilized efforts to help those in need, prevent new infections and assist with recovery. You can help them make an even greater impact by donating here. PayPal covers all processing costs, ensuring that 100% of your donation will support charities providing relief and recovery efforts.

In addition to these responding charities, the charity sector as a whole has been devastated by the economic effects of the pandemic. You can support thousands of CRA-registered charities here. If you are able to help, they need it now more than ever.

Through our employee giving “PayPal Gives” program—for the next three months—PayPal is providing a special double match to employee donations to coronavirus relief efforts in our local communities. At this time, we are supporting The Canadian Red Cross Society, Kids Help Phone, Second Harvest and Feed it Forward. Every dollar an employee donates, will be matched by two dollars from PayPal Gives, according to terms of the program.

The PayPal platform was designed to provide customers with trusted and reliable ways to manage and move their money. Over the last few weeks, we’ve also seen the PayPal community come together to support each other amidst COVID-19 with payments of goodwill and random acts of kindness. While PayPal’s peer-to-peer money transfer services were designed for payments between friends and family or for goods and services, we’re inspired by how our customers are helping one another during this time.

If you’d like to collect money to buy groceries for high-risk populations, or to pay bills for someone struggling to make ends meet you can create a personalized PayPal.me link. Sharing the link will help others know it’s you they’re paying so you can easily gather and distribute funds to those in need.

We thank our PayPal community for stepping up and helping others at this difficult time.
