A powerful and deadly 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck an area of central Nepal between the capital, Kathmandu and the city of Pokhara over the weekend. The quake’s impact has caused far reaching devastation. As of this morning, media reports indicate that more than 3,800 people have died in Nepal and people have also been injured and killed in India, Bangladesh, Tibet and on Mount Everest, where devastating avalanches were triggered.

 

As with any natural disaster of this scale, there is a great need for aid and we all have the ability to make a difference. For the next week, we have highlighted the Humanitarian Coalition’s Nepal earthquake fundraiser on the paypal.ca homepage to raise awareness of how you can help relief efforts.

 

Please consider donating online to the Humanitarian Coalition, Canadian Red Cross, and the Non-Resident Nepalese Association of Canada. Your contributions will benefit these organizations, which are working to provide emergency shelter, medical supplies, water and food. PayPal will cover the fees associated with these donations so that your contributions go directly to those in need.
