PayPal-Powered Small Business Spotlight: Urbery
Nothing says, “Summer’s coming!” like a Victoria Day long weekend barbeque. Imagine yourself, only a few short days from now, firing up your barbecue, sipping a chilled beer, and grilling mouth-watering beef patties to their juiciest. Only one thing is missing–the hamburger buns. How could you forget the hamburger buns? When you’re relaxing in the backyard, there’s nothing worse than having to run to the store to pick up a single, yet highly essential item. The good news is–you no longer have to.

Urbery is a Toronto-based service that delivers personalized grocery orders to your door in under two hours. It’s perfect for helping out in a pinch when that must-have item is missing from your meal, or for stocking up on everything you’ll need for the week, especially those items that are heavy to carry. Plus, there are no restrictions on how much or how little you can order.
Using this service is as simple as it sounds. Visit Urbery’s website from your mobile phone or computer and fill your virtual shopping cart with the items you need. To ensure you don’t miss a thing, Urbery’s sophisticated technology tracks your selections and recommends related products you might need. Once your cart is loaded up, check out securely with PayPal, and continue enjoying your day knowing that your groceries are on their way. You can even track your delivery in real-time.
On the other side of this equation are the people who shop for and deliver grocery orders, or “Grocery Gurus” as Urbery likes to call them. Urbery employs a network of knowledgeable product experts who receive training in selecting the best quality groceries. Grocery Gurus love to grocery shop and make sure orders are selected and delivered with care.

What motivated Urbery’s founder, Mudit Rawat, to develop this solution? When he moved to Toronto seven years ago to complete an MBA at York University’s Schulich School of Business, Mudit was shocked to find that Canadians had to trek to a grocery store every time they needed to restock their pantry shelves – even in the middle of a snowstorm! In his hometown, fresh local produce was delivered to his doorstep daily. Mudit wanted to bring that kind of convenience to Canadians. Driven by this inspiration, he worked at a national grocery retailer and several top tier technology companies to gain necessary skills to develop a grocery delivery solution backed by technology.

Mudit launched Urbery in beta on December 25, 2014, and on February 17, 2015, Urbery officially went live. Since launch, orders have been streaming in. Today, 30% of their transactions are through PayPal. Mudit is especially happy to see an increasing number of repeat shoppers. Each repeat shopper buys more than they did on their last order, signaling an increasing trust in Urbery’s service.

What’s next for Urbery? Developing a mobile app with the goal of putting a “grocery store in every shopper’s pocket”; expanding their selection of products and launching an alcohol delivery service. Future plans also include an expansion to other cities across Canada.

Check out with PayPal and use promo code: LONGWEEKEND10 to get $10 off your order on Urbery.com. Free delivery for order sizes above $65. Merchant offer ends June 15, 2015.
